What’s Wrong With America’s Health Care (AFL-CIO)
SUMMARY: The link between health care and the employer is leading to higher deductibles and cost for the employees. With the raising unemployment number in the U.S. more and more Americans are becoming uninsured. With examples of how to ‘fix’ the raising problems in health care state funds and child health care, more and more companies are working overtime to fix the glitches in the health care system.
TOPIC: Should the government arrange for hospitals to network to help standardize the cost of health care?

SUPPORT: 47 million U.S. residents; AFL-CIO Executive Council statement; Center for Studying Health System Change; Consumers Unions’ Health Care Plans and Managed Care ; Medicare;California passed a state law;
AUDIENCE & AGENDA: The union site is speaking to those who don’t have health care or those who are paying ‘too much’ for their health care. Trying to get more people into the unions that are available to them, grouping to get a better health plan for the U.S.
USEFULNESS: This feature shows how many people do not have health care in the U.S. The link between the employer and health care in this type of economy makes health care almost a plus, not a must, for many employees. The glitches in health care system are causing the price to increase at what seems like a never-ending rate. Looking into different ways to provide a better health care system for Americans seems to be the beginning of change. The next step towards a different type of health care would be through technology. With more technology and broader plans, the coverage of the unemployed could change. The goal is that the hospital staff will not be over worked and that your health insurance wont be tied to your employer.
